Four of A Kind!! 28 August , 2002

That's Right! Four Speakers-28 August
Another meeting with a bumper harvest of speakers!! We may have an all time club record of four speakers back to back!!
  • Melissa Blagge will be our Toastmaster of the Day.  She will need our full support with so many speakers!
  • Be on Time please because we must be out by 9:00 PM.  We are all having a great time but we don't need to overstay our welcome.
  • Four Speakers means four evaluators plus other duties.  Everyone is needed to help at this high density meeting!
  • Great Meeting To Bring Guests!

Attention Speakers and Club Members, Have you ....

Coordinated with the TM of the Day?
  • Does the TM of the Day know your speech number and speech title?
  • Informed the TM of your absence if already scheduled for a speech or club meeting duty?
  • Looked for your replacement if scheduled?

Technical Geek Stuff

Can you Read The Info Byte?
Well, maybe, sort of...We have determined that some Email readers are dated and makes the Info Byte look really ugly!!!

Never fear, the Geeks are here!  Our third copy of the news byte will be uploaded to our club website soonest.  When it is uploaded, everyone will get a message with a link in it for the online version of this news byte. The link will let everyone read the Info Byte as intended.

We have found that everyone's web browser can correctly read and display Info Bytes. Later this week someone will try to teach me how to upload and work the news byte on our website.  They told me just a half hour or so of instruction and I will be humming.  Hummmmm?? You have got to be kidding me!!!

From the Treasurer

September is dues time! Keep an eye out for your $22 invoice for your semi-annual dues for the club. If you recall, $18 of that goes to International, $4 stays with our club. Even if you just joined, dues are "due" again - they were pro-rated when you joined to a low of  $3.00 for some new members.

Our dues payment & membership list is due by the end of September at International Headquarters, so take immediate action when you see the invoice. We must have the information and payment to International on time to qualify for the Distinguished Club Program, so do your part to help the club!

If you have questions regarding your invoices, contact me at treasurer@whitehall-toastmasters.org

From the VP of Public Relations

Our Public Relations plan for this year includes a grass-roots marketing campaign to be conducted with the assistance of each and every member. At the Aug 27 meeting, I'll have marketing kits available for each member, which will include the following tools:

  • Personalized Toastmaster business cards Every member will receive 10 cards to start, more later as you need them (we are on a tight budget, after all). If you didn't receive an email request for information, email me at publicrelations@whitehall-toastmasters.org.
  • Bookmarks - Do you spend any time at libraries, bookstores or other public places? Every member will receive a set of 10 bookmarks.
  • Posters/flyers - To post at work & local merchants. Many merchants, large and small, will allow you to pin up posters or flyers for non-profit purposes (Toastmasters is a non-profit club under IRS 501(c)3 rules).
  • Buttons - "Ask me about Toastmasters" and other slogans on an attractive 2-3/4" pin-on-button turns you into a walking billboard for Toastmasters. A perfect excuse for giving away those business cards!
  • Newsletter - Speak UP! August edition will be included in the packet. If I have time, I'll get extra copies printed for you to leave in conspicuous locations, like the break room at work, pin up on the bulletin board in the HR dept., etc.
Included with your kit will be guidelines for effective placement of flyers, business cards, newsletters and bookmarks. If everyone does their part, and we do this 3-4 times a year, we should have a steady stream of prospective (and hopefully, NEW) members coming in the door!
